Summer TWI/DLI Enrichment Series

You want your child to keep using Spanish over the summer, they just want to have fun. You’re in the right place!  Maestra Marti does both with this Spanish Enrichment Series… immersion opportunities especially designed for kids who have been in Two-Way Immersion or Dual-Language Immersion Spanish/English elementary schools. These will help them keep their bilingual skills active over the summer in fun and interesting ways. Join Maestra Marti on planned excursions to a museum, kids Zumba(r) classes, Mexican restaurants, and more.  

We also offer Spanish Fun Immersion Camps in the afternoons one week each month during  the summer. See the Summer Camp page for details.


Join us for playground games in Spanish!

¡JUGAR Y HABLAR! (Play and Talk!)  Join Maestra Marti and other Spanish-speaking friends at area school playgrounds to play and speak in Spanish to keep your language skills  sharp in these bi-weekly get-togethers! Marti will facilitate games for an hour to get everyone playing, talking and laughing all while using their Spanish.

We will meet at a school playground. In the event of inclement weather, we will meet in the school gym.  Alternating Friday mornings and Wednesday evenings all summer long. Drop in for super fun Spanish games. Siblings welcome at a discounted rate!

  • Fridays 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.: June 16, June 30, July 14, July 28, August 11 & August 25
  • Wednesdays 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.: June 21, July 19, August 2, August 16

Amelia’s infectious enthusiasm will get everyone moving to the beat of lively Latin music.

ZUMBA®!  A favorite! Kids will love learning Latin-style dances like salsa and merengue, combined with hip hop and reggaeton with high-energy Amelia “Bedelia” McConnell, Zumba instructor extraordinaire!  Miss Bedelia has been teaching Zumba® Fitness classes for over seven years, including six of those years with young children and teens with Zumba® Kids and Zumba Kids Jr. She is AFAA and Red Cross certified, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from UW-Platteville. She works at Country View Elementary and for the Verona Area Pre-K Program as a school secretary. You can find her adult classes at Platteville Middle school, at various Verona schools and at Gold’s Gym.

Kids will get to see and try flamenco, including taking a turn using real Spanish fans and castanets. They even get to make their own fan to continue the flamenco fun at home.

FLAMENCO! Come learn beautiful, captivating flamenco, kid-style! Returning for her 2nd summer with us, Tracy Daniels, a talented Spanish teacher from Ohio, will teach us this incredible form of dance with lots of hands-on props. Currently studying flamenco dance under Libby Lubinger and Saundra Bohl at Fairmount Center for the Arts in Novelty, OH, Tracy first became interested in flamenco while living and studying in Madrid, Spain. She is a member of the Fairmount Spanish Dancers and performs in various venues, ranging from full-length concerts to lecture demonstrations. Exercise, fun and Spanish culture all rolled into one! Siblings welcome at a discounted rate, and parents join us  free!

SPANISH ART EXPLORATION AT MMoCA – Join us for a special afternoon at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art in the heart of downtown Madison as a Spanish-speaking docent gives us a private guided tour, focusing on the works of Spanish artists. Then kids get to make their own art. Parents provide own transportation (carpooling encouraged) and plan to stay with your child. Don’t miss this unique opportunity! 

  • Sunday, July 9th, 1:00 pm: MMoCA, 227 State St, Madison


Your child can converse in Spanish with the friendly staff. Come enjoy the best Mexican food in Madison.

¡VAMOS A COMER! LET’S EAT! We have TWO dining opportunities this summer! We go a little early to beat the crowds. Before the meal each child will receive a special reference guide with key dining out vocabulary to help them talk with the waiters and place orders in Spanish for themselves and you . They will also receive a special placemat full of Spanish word games.

Families provide your own transportation and plan to stay with your child. Siblings welcome at a discounted rate, and parents join us  free! (Cost of meals not included in price.)
