Spanish Camp 22013
Each day kids make a craft that helps them learn about Spanish culture.

These engaging camps include games, songs, books, and activities centered on a theme for the week. Spanish snack time provides a great opportunity to practice “dining out” vocabulary, manners and a challenge to the taste buds. Daily cultural crafts provide additional learning and hands-on creativity. Learning Spanish has never been so much fun!

CAMPS FOR AGES 4-6:  Three camps are offered for children ages 4-6 Monday – Thursday mornings 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 Noon, and one camp in the afternoons 1:15 – 4:15. These camps are taught in a bilingual manner. Camps are Monday through Thursday, leaving your Fridays free for long summer weekends.

CAMPS FOR AGES 6-10: Two afternoon camps are offered for ages 6-10 and are taught in 90% Spanish immersion. Students who study Spanish throughout the school year or TWI/DLI students will find the afternoon camps suited to their language learning. Camps are Monday through Thursday, leaving your Fridays free for long summer weekends.

The age ranges given are guidelines, not strict rules. Please inquire if you have questions.

LOCATIONS: All camps are offered at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road, Madison, except Camp 6 which is at Once Upon a Time Childcare, 910 Whalen Road, Verona.

Spanish Camp 1
LET’S EXPLORE

June 25-28, 9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 4-6

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church
5701 Raymond Road, Madison, WI. $155.

We learn by doing in Spanish camp with lots of games, activities, sign language and more to make learning easy and fun.

Each day we will learn about a different Spanish-speaking country, and create art representative of that culture in this bilingual camp. This summer the countries we will learn about include Bolivia, Spain, República Dominicana, and Panamá. We’ll learn games and dances from these countries, as well as their culture and landmarks. We’ll practice dining out manners with a snack common to each country. Kids will use vocabulary and phrases related to planes, trains and taxis, luggage, tickets, passports, and more.  Your child will be ready for your next trip!   $155.

Spanish Camp 2
VAMOS A EXPLORAR/ LET’S EXPLORE
June 25-28, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Ages 6-10

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Kids get 12 hours of Spanish immersion in the afternoon camps, making new friends, trying new foods, making crafts, and playing lots of Spanish games.

Each day we will learn about a different Spanish-speaking country, and create art representative of that culture.

This afternoon camp is taught 90% immersion-style, but we use lots of sign language and visual support to help those not quite fluent to have fun and gain confidence in their language skills. Zoo Animals, Adjectives & Activities
July 9-12, 9:00 a.m. – Noon
Ages 4-6

It’s fun to pretend to be animals, sound like animals, describe animals, and make animal art!

Kids will learn about lots of different animals in this fun bilingual camp which has them also learning lots of adjectives to describe the animals.

This camp is loaded with activities to keep the kids moving and exploring the language through games, art, conversation and food. Each day students make an animal art project representative of a different Spanish-speaking country. Our last day, the kids will love taking a swing at an animal piñata stuffed with candy and prizes. $155.

 

Spanish Camp 4

Students will learn Spanish school vocabulary to help them start the new year with confidence and excitement.

Back by popular demand! This camp is perfect for kids heading into bilingual kindergarten! Kids will be ready for back to school with this fun week of learning the Spanish words for objects in the classroom, people and places in school, numbers, colors, alphabet, and more. They’ll learn the secret of “The Kissing Hand.” They’ll do a Spanish craft each day, including a Guatemalan worry doll to help keep those new school jitters away. This bilingual camp includes a cultural snack each day to challenge their taste buds, and lots of learning through games, music and activity. $155.

Your child will feel more ready and excited for their transition to kindergarten after this fun-filled Spanish camp.

Special Note: This camp is a slightly abbreviated version of the ¡Listo para la escuela! / Ready for School! camp above, and is being offered at Once Upon a Time Childcare in Verona from 1:15- 3:15. The students at OUAT get first enrollment priority; any open spots will be available to the public starting April 15th.
